Nesting for Your Well-Being

With everything going on in the world, some of the most important things that you can do for yourself while home is to find peace, remember to breathe, and try to see the positive in all things.

If you're anything like me, you may have a bookshelf of books to be read and unfinished books or have projects upon projects on your “I’ll get to it eventually” list.  And let’s face it, there’s always more cleaning you could do.

Here is a list of some of the many things you can do while nesting:

  • Create a new routine. Get out of bed at the same time, make your bed, wash your face and moisturize, get dressed, and make your favorite warm beverage. Having a morning routine sets you on the right track to have a great day.

  • Introduce aromatherapy and breathe!  Here are a few to try:

    • Eucalyptus helps promote feelings of refreshment

    • Lemon, pink grapefruit, mandarin, and lime can be uplifting

    • Lavender is used to ease tension and can help de-stress.

    • Rosemary and peppermint help promote a feelings of mental clarity

  • Learn how to help yourself / family with natural remedies.  Read, listen and watch shows on wellness. What are we currently studying?  Homeopathy.

  • If you have questions, connect with your holistic practitioner and your local health food retailer – they are great resources! They have been listed as essential businesses and should be open.

  • Get out into nature. It’s free!  Sit outside and let the sun shine or rain mist your face

  • Start your seeds and create your garden – you can do this in small spaces too. Try indoor sprouting.

  • Create art and draw.

  • Read more books, less social media.  Do some writing!

  • Clean, organize and declutter.  Donate to those in need.

  • Take an Ivy League online course

  • Pray, meditate and BREATHE. If you want some tips, watch a video on how to do deep breathing exercises.

  • Play games – cards, board games or make up your own

  • Exercise, stretch and dance

  • Video call your friends and family.

  • Look out for one another.  If you know of any seniors living alone, give them a call and check on them.  If they text, drop them a note daily - they love to be remembered!

  • Write and send a card to someone.

  • Get fancy with your cooking.  Bake a treat!

  • Pick up a new hobby

  • Explore Pinterest and learn something new

  • Netflix has a new watch party feature - watch with your friends while you’re apart

  • Go on a virtual museum tour

  • Practice self-care:  Face masks, hair masks, nail care, do a facial steam,  take a hot bath – a combination of Epsom and dead sea salts is especially soothing.

  • Get lots of rest and peaceful sleep.

  • Moisturize.  With all that hand washing, it’s a great time to use calendula daily.  Do a deep moisturize overnight with Bodyceuticals Organic Calendula Oil or The Essential Skin Relief Balm with Honey using some hand gloves.  And remember your feet need pampering too!  Apply a generous amount of Bodyceuticals Bioactive Calendula Salve and put some cozy cotton socks on.  Great for puttering around the house!

  • Enjoy just being.  And know you’ve got this! Find your inner peace and smile.

You have the power to choose a positive outlook – make it a healing time while enjoying the art of nesting. We’re thinking of you!
